Higher Education Opportunities
for Pakistani Students from Balochistan and FATA
(4 years Undergraduate degree and 2 years Masters degree)

 

The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved a project titled ‘Provision of Higher Education Opportunities for Pakistani Students from Balochistan and FATA’. The project will provide financial assistant to 1300 undergraduate and 700 postgraduate talented students of Balochistan and FATA who are otherwise, unable to enter higher education due to financial constraints over a period of seven (7) years. Applications are invited for this years competition.

   

  

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who have passed FA/F.Sc/ Inter/HSC  with at  least 60% and intends to get admission in 4-years undergraduate program.
  • Candidates who have passed B.A/ B.Sc. or equivalent at least in second division (45%) and interested to get admission in 2- years masters programs.
  • Age: Between 18-21 years at the time of appearing in FA/F.Sc/Inter/HSC exam.

   

  

Selection Criteria:

  • For undergraduates : (% in SSC X 0.2 + % in HSC X 0.3 + % in NTS test X 0.5)     
  • For masters program : ( % in SSC X 0.2 + % in HSC X 0.2 + % in BA/ B.Sc X 0.2+ % in NTS test X 0.4) 
  • NTS (National Testing Service) Test:   NTS test will be conducted at Quetta and Peshawar centers.

  • Type or Fill the Application Form in CAPITAL LETTERS using black ink.
  • Attach attested photocopies of following documents with your application form:
    • SSC /O-level certificate and detailed marks certificate
    • HSC/F.Sc /A-level certificate and detailed marks certificate
    • BA/B.Sc. or equivalent (for postgraduate program) degree and detailed marks certificate.
    • Computerized NIC/ form ‘B’.
    • Domicile Certificate
    • Father’s or Guardian’s National Identity Card
    • Father’s or Guardian’s Domicile Certificate
    • One passport size recent photograph
    • Original Pay Order /Bank Draft or Postal Order for Rs 100/-(non refundable, as processing fee), drawn in favor of DG (Finance), Higher Education Commission, Islamabad (Photocopy of the pay order/ bank draft or postal order will not be accepted)

   

  

Foundation / Crash program:

A Foundation/Crash program has also been organised. The purpose to organize one week foundation/crash program is to prepare the potential candidates of Balochistan and FATA who intend to get admission in 4-year undergraduate and 2-year masters program on competitive basis. The selected students will undergo one week foundation/ crash program for which all expenses will be borne by the HEC. The selected students will be provided hostel accommodation at the host institutes. The crash program will be organized at Peshawar and Quetta centers.
(Important Note: The course is not mandatory for award of scholarship. The applicants who have not undergone crash program will also be eligible to apply and compete on merit. The advertisement for award of scholarship will follow the crash program.)

  

  

Overall Schedule:

  • NTS Test: To be held on 21-09-2008 at 12:00 Noon
  • NTS test will be held at Following Centers:
    • Quetta:       University of Balochistan, Quetta.
    • Peshawar:  Govt. Higher Secondary School No. 1, G.T.  Road, Near Firdous Bus Stop, Peshawar.
  • NTS test result will be displayed on HEC website on: 27-09-2008
  • Conduct of Crash Program at Quetta and Peshawar: 06-10-2008

  • Roll number slips will be mailed to the applicants by surface mail at their given address. In case, any eligible applicant does  not receive the roll number slip or has any query subsequently he/she may contact the relevant person from the following:

  • Candidates possessing domicile of Balochistan will have to appear at Quetta center and the FATA domiciled will have to appear at Peshawar center.
  • Candidate must bring his/her Roll number slip, NIC/ B-form in original otherwise, he/she will not be allowed to sit in the test.
  • NTS test result will be up loaded on HEC website www.hec.gov.pk/balochistan-fata and also displayed at Quetta and Peshawar centers.
  • Selected candidates will also be informed through mail at their given address.
  • Classes for crash program will commence on 06-10-2008 at Boy Scouts Headquarters, opposite TV Center Quetta and I. M. Sciences, Hayatabad, Phase-IIV, Peshawar.
